The Regional Legislative Council’s Work Visit to BPS-Statistics of Kaimana Regency

On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, the Regional Legislative Council of Kaimana Regency conducted a working visit to the BPS-Statistics of Kaimana Regency. Eight members of The C Commission visited to confirm the population data coherency in Kaimana Regency. The Chairperson of The C Commission, Frans Amerbay, explained the concerns expressed by the community regarding the social aid receiver list which are perceived as not being accurately targeted, especially for the Indigenous Papuans (OAP). Therefore, sharing knowledge about the data collection process at BPS, from the initial planning to how the obtained data is presented in the central level of government, as then being accessible for the local government’s policy making basis. During the meeting, population and poverty data in Kaimana Regency were also presented. With this work visit, the local government expected easier access to the necessary data for decision-making towards future development of Kaimana Regency. Thus, all forms of public policies can be accurately targeted based on unified data from accurate sources.
